Confirmed from Rocky Ridge Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

My husband and I had our marriage at the Ruffed Grouse Pavilion and it fits 150 people. Gorgeous space with a stone fireplace accent wall. Not too far from bathrooms, a playarea for the kids, and the little Nature space and walking trails were great for photos!

Awesome area for some light trekking, and rock scrambling. Trails are suitable for all skill levels. Parking is easy and trails are well marked.

★★★★☆ — Mike , Oct 2024

Only been here once or twice in the summer. Winter, they have a great Christmas light display and activity. The lights were fun because you can tell that they have been acquired over the decades. Bigger incandescent light strings, smaller incandescent light string, LED lights . . .

★★★★★ — Phil , Dec 2021

Great place to get into hiking if you are new to it. There is a mile long main gravel trail with a number of marked smaller trails branching off from it. Beautiful views from the power lines. It does not have the most challenging of trails - partly because it’s on the top of the mountains.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 18 mentions

“Mountain biking, trail running, long hikes, the kids at the nature playground or other playgrounds, the overlooks and endless views, the places to picnic, the outdoor fitness gym.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
