Confirmed from Jones Peak's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Good for kids, this area is primarily categorized as a hiking spot.
What runners say about Jones Peak
“There are really nice views from Jones Peak and the trail up to it, the Bailey Trail is well maintained.”
“A challenging number of switchbacks for the first timer but gorgeous views of the monastery, downtown LA and Arcadia.”
“And there's not to much shade up there unless you continue straight on the path going into the mountain.”
One of my favorite trails to hike. Took my BFF up there and she loved it.
Entrance is about a mile past first water. The trail is 1 mile long. Although it's short, the incline is pretty steep. I reached the peak in about 35 minutes. There's a small bench at the peak that offers pretty good views. Well worth the effort.
If you want your cardiovascular endurance and hamstrings get tested these trails are for you. I hiked Jones Peak that has an elevation 3,375 ft. The recommended route begins at the Bailey Canyon Park trailhead, also known as Grove Park.
Medium hard hike, for kids who constantly hike!! Take a lot of water, Gatorade, chips (snacks) hike time round trip with kids 3 hours 45 minutes 😎
