The trail is to the right of the entrance to the Makapu’u Lighthouse trail. Please see the photo in the review - the paved path to the left is to the light house and the dirt trail to the right leads to Kaiwi Shoreline trail. Use the Makapu’u parking area. Easy hike. Little lagoon with a private beach.
Some of the absolutely most beautiful views that I've ever seen in my life. Very simple hike (all paved) about 3 miles round trip to the top. The lighthouse is beautiful, so are the islands and the tidal pools. On a clear day you can see 3 of the other Hawaiian islands. Also got to see some humpback whales.
There are a bunch of trails around here. One tarmac wheelchair accessible path to the lighthouse lookout point. Lots of informal trails down to the beach and Pemex chair. Convenient 22 bus stop at the golf course for access.
Absolutely breathtaking! Go early, before the sun comes up. It gets hot pretty quickly. Bring water. We did the lighthouse trail first, then we headed down this path. It was worth it. It's sandy and rocky by the water, so watch your step. There's plenty of tidepools that have lots of small beautiful fish.
