Confirmed from Kaplan Woods Mountain Bike Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trail-studded 225-acre park featuring a lake for swimming and canoeing, plus fishing.
What runners say about Kaplan Woods Mountain Bike Trailhead
“I always appreciate how well maintained Kaplan's Woods trails are.”
“It's very quiet and beautiful and dog friendly.”
Great for easy to moderate hiking with a creek & a river running through it. Pictured is Lake Kohlmeier, a small lake for swimming, canoing, fishing etc. 225 acre Kaplan's Woods is adjacent to this.
Place is amazing! Great trails that throw you for a loop ! The mosquitoes will carry you away to their leader ..So bring bug spray!!
Switchbacks, jumps, gentle rolling hills, through green summers, fall's golden glow, or winter's snow packed trails, this trail system has it all. And, even more impressive, is the dedicated hours spent by volunteers to maintain it all!
Beautiful park. Walking trails have wood chips. So very well maintained. There are mountain bike trails too. Both trails are everywhere. Fun place to be.
Trail conditions & character
“It's very quiet and beautiful and dog friendly.”
“Starting at the trails on the north side of the park is a good place for beginners, providing smooth single track dirt pack paths, weaving through deciduous trees.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
