Confirmed from Kaposia Landing's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Kaposia Landing

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (508 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This spot is getting better all the time. SSP has been working over the last few years to add baseball fields and a playground to the dog park and running/biking trails that are already there. It's $20 for an annual pass to the dog park, which is basically a LARGE open, mowed field.

I enjoy coming here to walk the dogs through the park. It is always somewhat busy. The trail takes maybe 30 minutes to walk around the park. There are doggie bags around the park to make clean up a breeze. There are also places to sit along the way to watch the river and the eagles that nest near by.

One of the more remote locations of St Paul. The roadways are typical to get to but once you're inside it is an oasis. They recently made a brand new park in the area with new landscaping and paved trails. I enjoy the natural buffer and ecology of the area. The history known here at Kaposia Landing is quite astounding.

Great walking/biking trails along the Mississippi River. Lots of wide open space, ball fields, playground and large dog park (though I believe you need a permit to use the dog park).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
