Confirmed from Marthaler Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring a playground, trails and basketball courts for kids, plus sledding hills.

“but I like the trails and dock always found it to be a super tranquil clean and peaceful place for me and my pups to go on our adventures n walks ☺️👌🏼”
“Beautiful park, very clean, with 2 picnic shelters, ample parking, big playground, very clean bathrooms, lots of benches and a dock.”
“Quiet park, I was kayaking and I was there around 2:00 p.”
I remember being a child and coming here and playing. I have great memories of this place. I see that they have done a lot of construction and it’s looking good. I can’t wait to see the end result. The only thing that scares me is the trail that leads from Kraft to this park.
Evening Dance In the Streets as We Walk and Step to Sixties Soul on The Lovely Park Paths and Trails of West Saint Paul, May 2025
Hands down best sledding hill. I grew up in West Saint Paul but now live in St Francis. My husband took my kids to Keyes Park in Columbia heights and said it was a really fun experience and I told him that was nothing compared to marthaler park. So today we drove all the way here to go sledding.
Has great paved paths for walking. Has a basketball court, volleyball court, multiple tennis courts, a pond, a giant sledding hill, another sledding hill, multiple picnic shelters and finally, a new playground in the lower part of the park for 2020.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
