Confirmed from Kehl Canyon TrailHead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Kehl Canyon TrailHead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (11 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Kehl Canyon aka "The Kehl Zone" is a great place for Mountain Bikers to get away from the other crowded trail networks in the area. This newly expanded area has great local builders who are creating new MTB focused trails. Stay alert for snakes, and enjoy some hand crafted singletrack goodness.

Very nice trail for running and biking. Oak tress drape over you as you ascend the trail. All city sounds go away, and the sunlight feels amazing. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy the outdoors.

★★★★★ — Seth , Jun 2023

Fun little trail tucked away on the south end of Calimesa. Last time I was there, there was an accessible trailhead at the fence and a sign indicating that the area is off limits to motorized vehicles specifically.

★★★★☆ — Nicholas , Aug 2024

Lesser known trail that offers beautiful scenery of chapparal canyons and an oak woodland. It also connects to other various unnamed trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
