Not a hike to be scoffed at if you're on foot in the middle of summer like I was. The wilderness is great and majestic and there are many trails to explore with some interesting stops and some wildlife to see along the way. I saw many deer and a lynx in the parking lot.
More of a 3.5 star park. I enjoy hiking here. It's more of a locals hike and bike State Park. If your not already in the are I wouldn't go out of my way to visit especially with places like San Jacinto SP and Big Bear rec area near by. The park is situated on a hill side right outside of town.
This is the kind of place to go if you want to escape the crowds. I really liked this place for that reason. I only seen one other person on the trail at midday! There are two trails to take in order to get into the park. The first one is by the parking lot and the other one is up the road.
Great park! Great trails! You can ride for hours upon hours, but there are also trails that you can use to do a short loop if you don't want to keep going. It's ALWAYS beautiful and peaceful. Great for horses. The only thing that can be expected in this environment is rattle snake. Be very careful.
