Confirmed from Kerr Lake State Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Very clean and well maintained. I went by shelter 3. Did not go in the shelters but they looked nice from the outside. Some restroom facilities. Quiet area perfect for taking a walk.

We loved our time at Kerr Lake! We stayed at Hibernia Area 3 on the water (site 119). As a family of 6 with 4 small kids, we’d say it’s very kid friendly. The site was easy to find and our kids loved swimming right there at the site.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“Because of the lake level being low and a recent rain, the shore was quite muddy with thick clay mud, which created some extra mess but was still swimmable with little kids!”
