Confirmed from Knobs State Forest and WMA's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking, hunting, and other outdoor activities are available in this raw natural area.
What runners say about Knobs State Forest and WMA
“But a beautiful stream runs along it and you can stop and make your own trails.”
I've been visiting Knobs, for about 8 years. I hunt, hike, run my dogs and decompress from the daily grind. After acquiring nearly 500 more acres, a year ago, it now encompasses 2000 acres. Typical of our lovely state, be prepared for some varied terrain, with no shortage of climbing steep grades.
Real Kentucky Backwoods, not far from the city. A great place to hike and see mushrooms (after moist conditions). Wear long pants, boots, and be prepared for ticks. A rocky stream runs along the road, and serves as a great place to cool your feet in the summer.
Create local park for some good rugged hikes. Few trails but if it's been raining a lot it's hard to find a good parking spot.
Honestly, just a tree farm and road that dead ends on public property. But a beautiful stream runs along it and you can stop and make your own trails. Not much too it. But ita definitely pretty.
