Confirmed from Lake Bernard Frank's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded trails, a lake and a meadow populate this outdoor area, popular for walking and birding.
What runners say about Lake Bernard Frank
“Beautiful walk through the woods on paved trail around a large lake.”
“Hidden gem, fewer facilities than Lake Needwood but very peaceful.”
Beautiful walk through the woods on paved trail around a large lake. Pretty year round. Lots of birds and beautiful native wildflowers. Very steep hill near entrance, so not very wheelchair or even stroller accessible. Some parking, not a lot but usually enough. No restrooms or playground. Benches but no picnic area.
I'm amazed that more people don't know about lake Frank. I think it's because there's only one parking area for the entire lake and it's hidden less than a mile away from Lake Needwood. Because not many people know about it. The fishing here is awesome!
Probably one of my favorite local spots to connect with nature. Easy hike around the lake, totally worth the visit!
Went hiking with my wife this afternoon. Not very many people here. Beautiful day. Actually it was a perfect day. A few high school students were jogging. I assume they were training for Cross country. Something I did in high school. Think we walked about 3.5 miles. The lake seemed very full.
