Confirmed from Lake Forest Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lake Forest Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (100 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Some of it is really well maintained, some of it is quite natural, and a little tricky to navigate, but still fun.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Theres plenty of shade for those hot days as well as water fountains for all.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Thick and serene forest with Hickory Creek running thru it.”

A nice and simple trail. Good for dogs. Good amount of shade. Mostly flat with some little hills, depending on what direction you take. There’s one main trail path that shows up on google maps, but there’s other paths that go off the trail that are also good to take.

This is a nice place to take your doggos and go for walks. Also a pretty nice place to take photos of you wanna go on a short walk down the trails.

★★★★★ — Steven , Dec 2020

A nice amount of green space with a basketball court and playground that's usually less crowded than Eureka Park. There are some trails back in the woods if you want to be among the trees, and a sunny field for frisbee, bocce ball, etc. This is also the location of Wiggly Field Dog Park.

★★★★☆ — Summer , Oct 2019

Love the dog park. Love the trails. Nice area for kiddos too. Appreciate the snake warnings by trails or my adventurous teen wouldn't believe me, be cautious. Field stickers are bad this year! BUT the dog enclosure and playground area seem clear. Just be careful crossing fields to get to basketball court or trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
