Confirmed from Lake in the Hills Fen Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Lake in the Hills Fen Conservation Area
“Beautiful nature preserve with rare natural land features.”
“Wonderfully quiet place for a walk with a nice restored prairie.”
Wonderfully quiet place for a walk with a nice restored prairie. Pockets of lead plant, rattlesnake master, blazing star, and side oats that are a pleasure to experience throughout the year. Sunsets are a sight. Good parking and pit toilets available near the parking lot.
April, the water is moving at a good clip, if you can find it. I got lost because I'm an idiot and couldn't figure how to read a map, pay attention, stay on the trails or your feet might get wet.
Beautiful nature preserve with rare natural land features. Only walked a short distance on the asphalt trail and am looking forward to walking the non-paved trails soon.
An incredible beauty hidden in a Lake in The Hills suburb. This area is a host to so much history and diversity and I was so fortunate to be able to live so close to it
