Confirmed from Larry Mattonen Memorial Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Shaded, gravel-covered trail for walking and biking, plus a lake cove.
What runners say about Larry Mattonen Memorial Trail
“This is an easy to moderate (easy based on the grade and gravel path, a bit more moderate based on length) trail that is beautiful in all seasons, with forest and lake views.”
“This trail is nice and canopy covered, scenic, lake views, and some other trail connections if you want to extend it.”
“I hate to give up the goods on this place but it’s a great 2 1/2 mile circle or 3 mile figure 8 that’s family friendly and very beginner friendly.”
Awesome trail with lots of shade for summer time. It's a walking & jogging trail, but it's also a nice moderate bike trail, with just enough hills to get your blood pumping, but a lot of it is easy riding. 2.5 mile loop, so you can go around in several times on a bike and never be to far from where you park.
Nice little trail to do with a friend. Lots of trees and a gravel trail which is nice; it loops around so you don't get lost. I just wish there was more water to look out on.
Great 2.5 mile loop! This trail is nice and canopy covered, scenic, lake views, and some other trail connections if you want to extend it. Always a fun time!
It was one of the memorable trails I have seen around mid west. I loved the way trees are shaded and path is right in the middle. The best part are the wild flowers and greenery. I was not able to see the view of lake, shown as the main photo of this location. But definitely amazing simple time with nature.
