Confirmed from Las Trampas Ridge Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Las Trampas Ridge Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (21 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Great view at the top but bring water and be ready for a challenging calf workout.”

Warning: don't try to access this trail via Bolinger Canyon Rd, even though it looks possible on Google Maps. It is a private road with the trailhead starting on private property with "no trespass" signs and hillbillies that will most likely shoot you if you do. Not worth it.

★★★★☆ — Jackson , Jul 2018

A great place to take yourself or your family and friends on a nice enjoyable hike. Get there early so you can find parking and tear up the place and enjoy the wilderness.

★★★★★ — Robert , Feb 2022

A nice hike with a beautiful view. The hills were green and lush. Spotted patches of wildflowers. Encountered very few people on the trail. Easy parking with bathrooms.

★★★★★ — Deidre , Apr 2025

I was able to experience this amazing trail by hiking a small connector trail from San Damiano. It is breathtaking in the spring!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
