Confirmed from LaSalle Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about LaSalle Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (30 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“Indiana part was great but Michigan part was much more scenic and natural.”

Wow, what a beautiful trail. Great for bikes, walking. I walk my brother who is in a wheel chair there. Always very clean, and the nature is beautiful. So many wild flowers. There is an elderly man named Ralph sho also grows produce and beautiful flowers on one section of this walk. He is 98 years old.

★★★★★ — Terry , Oct 2022

Great trail, lots of flowers along the way. From the Roseland City Park its 3.3 miles to the MI line then becomes the Michiana trail and one can go all the way to Niles.

★★★★★ — David , Aug 2020

The new section is beautiful. Lots of it is shaded. A nice amount of birds can be spotted.

★★★★★ — Lisa , Sep 2019

I ride this path about 5x a year. It is a totally wonderful path north of the toll road entrance all the way to US 12. Not a lot of people us it so it is wide open.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
