Confirmed from Madeline Bertrand County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
18 holes of disc golf, plus hiking & a playground, in forested environs along the St. Joseph River.
What runners say about Madeline Bertrand County Park
“The wide, well-maintained trails go along the river, through woods, and next to swampy areas.”
“Had our small wedding at the lodge, it's beautiful here and the playground is right there for kids to go play on!”
“Very well kept and for the disc golfing it was very well marked and easy to navigate!”
“Such a peaceful area and beautiful lodge for a baby shower.”
We love this park for taking a walk and doing bird watching. The wide, well-maintained trails go along the river, through woods, and next to swampy areas. With that variety, there are quite a few birds and lots of spring, summer, and fall flowers. We can walk 2.
Beautiful park that has compacted trails. 3 trails to choose from. We took the longest route which was 2.3 miles. They all loop. It was beautiful day to get out and walk.
Played disc golf here today. 18 hole course , some straight ahead, some curve , some up over hills . A beautiful place to play, all in a wooded environment. Staff is helpful and friendly. Entry fee for me was $5 and parking also $5.
My pictures can't possibly do MadBert justice. That being said.... I personally LOVE this course. It has a great array of short, technical holes: 250' and less, wooded, all tee pads are cement, signage at every hole, baskets are all in good condition.

“During the colder months, they also have cross country skiing trails and a toboggan hill that you can sled on.”
“Plenty of parking and a couple of pavilions and paths.”

“25 miles on the outer loop and rarely meet anyone (I know, I shouldn't write this review :-).”
“We loved having the fireplace lit, and for like 40 people it's comfortable and everyone feels like one group.”
“Has enough parking space and also picnic areas , hiking trails , covered shelters, play area for kids and pets allowed but only on a leash”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
