Confirmed from Madeline Bertrand County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Such a peaceful area and beautiful lodge for a baby shower.”

We love this park for taking a walk and doing bird watching. The wide, well-maintained trails go along the river, through woods, and next to swampy areas. With that variety, there are quite a few birds and lots of spring, summer, and fall flowers. We can walk 2.

Beautiful park that has compacted trails. 3 trails to choose from. We took the longest route which was 2.3 miles. They all loop. It was beautiful day to get out and walk.

Played disc golf here today. 18 hole course , some straight ahead, some curve , some up over hills . A beautiful place to play, all in a wooded environment. Staff is helpful and friendly. Entry fee for me was $5 and parking also $5.

My pictures can't possibly do MadBert justice. That being said.... I personally LOVE this course. It has a great array of short, technical holes: 250' and less, wooded, all tee pads are cement, signage at every hole, baskets are all in good condition.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
