My husband and I have enjoyed these trails for years! They are quiet, peaceful, and full of wildlife. I was shocked to see the 1 star reviews from others complaining of bugs (obviously- it’s outdoors???
What an absolutely great place to walk and bird watch. I came here and ended up spending over 5 hours and traveling almost 7 miles bird watching. Amazing! Wide open roads that allow you to go through the various habitats that are available to explore.
This area provided critical habitat for endangered plants, pollinators, and native flora and fauna. The fire roads are sandy and can be difficult to walk on or too wet to traverse. I saw Pitcher plants and lots of Pine trees. Wetlands help mitigate climate change and erosion and filter contaminated runoff water.
This is my favorite spot to bring my dog. I Like it just as much as the Vereen memorial gardens and the Ingrahm Dunes, which were part of my backyard growing up. There is miles Of dirt road through this amazing landscape.
