Confirmed from Liberty State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Waterfront views of Manhattan, Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island, plus miles of tree-lined walkways.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5-Star Review – Liberty State Park If you’re anywhere near Jersey City, this is an absolute must-stop destination. Liberty State Park delivers some of the most breathtaking views you’ll find in all of New Jersey—hands down.
Liberty State Park is a beautiful, spacious park with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The park is perfect for walking, jogging, picnicking, or just relaxing by the water. It’s very clean, well-maintained, and family-friendly, with plenty of open spaces for kids to play.
I love running here esp at night when the moon is out. Also a favorite place to visit. It’s huge park and easy for my long 10 mile runs. The staff are great as are the state and park police.
Free parking, bathrooms, few food trucks, kids playground, picnic tables, dog friendly are great but The Views!!! Long beautiful boardwalk(?), walking path along the ocean. Statue of Liberty’s back side view is SO close and the NYC skyline views are amazing! We came on a Saturday around noon. Not very crowded, mid May.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
