Confirmed from Loblolly Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Loblolly Park
Great for cross country running, walking and hiking! If you enter the park from the north side of NW 8th Ave it's about 2mi round trip including the long straightaway at the midpoint. I would say this is an intermediate trail.
It's a quick, quiet, and easily accessible trail in Gainesville. Loblolly is quiet, but not deserted. For a large portion of this trail, there is only one path, so you will likely see people as you walk through the trail. There is decent parking and 3-entrances to Loblolly.
A little muddy. Trails all over, but not exactly marked professionally (e.g. trail blazing or signs). September had a few mosquitoes, but not bad. Some were sifting but signs mark that as a no-no. A few teeth were seen by bank. No creepy two-legged creatures during a Saturday afternoon.
Besides the creek-street overpass, the occasional slim wood walking bridge, and the worn down grass walking path, it is nature that feels untouched Great to roam, but also easy to find your way back
Trail conditions & character
“The beginning of the trail is sandy and is quite passable but once the sand is replaced by leaves and tree roots the complexity increases.”
“There is decent parking and 3-entrances to Loblolly.”
“Wider spaces and there's an optional boardwalk too.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
