Confirmed from Lock 33 Canal Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lock 33 Canal Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (121 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

It's a Nature's gift for the people living in Pittsford and Brighton Area. What not you can do in the Canal Trail road - Walking, Biking, skating, picnic... Whole of the Trial is picturesque and the nice breeze really encourages you to spend more time on the trial.

★★★★★ — Sammy , Aug 2020

You can bring your lunch, since they have picnic tables. A perfect place to walk, bike, or jog, and you might even see a boat or 2!! A recommended visit.

★★★★★ — Brian , Aug 2022

So interesting to watch the process. A walking, bike trail. Portable toilet. There's a biking fixing station as well.

★★★★★ — Kristi , Oct 2025

I usually take breaks here when I walk or bike along the canal. Like watching how they operate the lock.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🛣️ Paved surface 4 mentions

“The path is nicely paved along this area of the canal and there is lighting along some of it as well in case you're out at dawn or dusk.”
