Confirmed from Lockwood Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Casual park with trails along the Truckee River featuring picnic tables and fishing.

“The Lockwood Trail is a nice short and easy trail along the Truckee River.”
Beginner trail, narrow and loose gravel. Scenic surroundings and yeah you can see ostriches across the river! Picnic spots and accessibility to river banks. Fishing in a cozy day is really enjoyable!
Pretty little loop with river access and lots of picnic tables. Looks like they’re still repairing the lower loop after last year’s flooding, but the upper loop is a nice walk with lots of birds and wildlife. Unfortunately the river can’t quite drown out the highway noise, and across the river are buildings etc.
Nice flat trail. There are small trails off the main trail that leads to the river. Great views with picnic and benches along the main trail. Near the parking lot is where most people fish. Really pretty even for being summer. Photos taken on our short walk. 6/23/25
The trail cover around a three quarter mile loop along the Truckee river. Very beautiful, well maintained, but not many amenities. Great for dog walking, fishing, and bird watching.
