Confirmed from Long Branch Stream Valley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Long Branch Stream Valley Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (63 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The gorgeous long-span bridge over the creek is a picturesque centerpiece of the park.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Very calm and apart from the surrounding neighborhoods.”

A park of tranquility and nature beauty. The gorgeous long-span bridge over the creek is a picturesque centerpiece of the park. The north end of the foot bridge is Pickett Road and the south end is at the intersection of Pickett Road and Twinbrook Road.

★★★★★ — Shih-Chun , Jul 2023

Beautiful park full of native Virginia native plants in most section. Lush ferns, mayapples, and swamp lettuce in some sections, black berry ticket in others. The park harbors multiple district zones of different types of plant life all alone a meandering stream.

★★★★★ — Ashton , May 2019

Kinda hidden, very cool and calm. Swing set and basketball court. Cool little bridge over the stream and a small trail on either side. Great greenery and good way to place to walk. It is located right in the middle of a neighborhood.

★★★★★ — Kna , May 2023

This place is a strange hidden gem with old growth trees and native understory in some areas (all fern and mayapple - no invasives) and mini bamboo forests and abandoned cars in others. Take some time to meander down all the little trails. There is a lot to this park beyond the bridge.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 7 mentions

“You can access it from many neighborhoods, but I don't know of an official parking lot.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
