Confirmed from Longleaf Pine Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (62 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“The green trail was the unexpected highlight of the trip, a fun loop around a lake with great views and cool boardwalks.”

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“Just past the 3 mile marker the trail is blocked by a gate.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“This is very disappointing as the land and quiet solitude beyond the gate is a beautiful thing to behold.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

Went here for a mountain bike ride and to do some geocaching. Plenty of parking; trail was dry but torn up in many spots by wild boar; several wooden boardwalks in places that would normally be very wet. We took the red trail and the shorter green trail around the lake for a total of 7.6 miles.

Just past the 3 mile marker the trail is blocked by a gate. The trail no longer continues to the east entrance. I was told that someone bought land that intersects the trail and does not want trespassers. This is very disappointing as the land and quiet solitude beyond the gate is a beautiful thing to behold.

Free Camping with Free Permit. Nice Quiet and not Crowded. There's also a hiking trail just to the west.

★★★★★ — Vancampinwoody , Feb 2021

Visited the west entrance which has three different trails. The main red trail along with a orange trail and green trail. In total there's over 7 miles of trails to hike. All of it very well marked and maintained. The green trail was the only one with a little bit of overgrowth.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

📏 Mile markers 5 mentions

“A few markers are missing, but there are confidence markers, so no problem with navigation.”
