We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway
“A beautiful get away, make sure you are prepared for primitive exploring!”
Hiked the backbone trail 27 july 2019 got a late started about 930am and got back to truck and was on the road home around 4 pm. I was not physicaly as prepared as i should have been...the last few miles sucked realy bad even though it was all pavement. I told my girls that it was like driving to el paso texas .
A beautiful get away, make sure you are prepared for primitive exploring! Do not forget to bring waters!! Only drinking water around is around 10 miles (don't quote me it may be a little closer), which is the drinking water spring pipe you can bottle your own water and it is cold and delicious!
