Confirmed from Lookout Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lookout Mountain Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (678 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Along with the Hiking there is a lot of parking, clean and well-kept restrooms, tons of park benches for parties and two different modern playgrounds for the kids.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Beautiful 360 view from the top, also plenty of trails circumnavigating the mountain if you’re not into the elevation.”

Great hike. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the top. That's non-stop hiking at a brisk pace. It's steep, very rocky. Potential for injury for inexperienced or inattentive hikers is there—but just take your time and watch your step.

Trail 150 is short with a gradual elevation to 800-1000ft. You can also work your may around 308 for less elevation. As you get closer to the peak, certain angles require you to climb. Overall a nice short hike.

Several trail options for hiking. Very nice little park with facilities. A bit nostalgic for me, I lived in the area in early 1980's when it was all desert.

★★★★★ — Shawna , Aug 2021

This is the coolest park I've been to yet. I'm new to the city from out in the boondocks and this park makes me feel at home. Feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere right in the middle of the city. It's so beautiful too. There is a toddler area which for the toddlers I'm sure is fun.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 17 mentions

“Might take 30 minutes to the top for someone who stops a lot to catch their breath or take in the views or snap selfies.”
