Confirmed from Lookout Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

One of Ross County's best hiking areas. I hiked the South Point Lookout Trail after heavy rain the night before and the small streams and waterfalls were great to see along with the scenic views along the trail.
Absolutely great hike that will test average hikers. It’s moderate to hard. The payoff is so worth the effort. Beautiful trail and well marked. It’s a short hike by distance but not by elevation change.
The Lookout Trail is a beautiful bit of leisurely hiking. It will provide spectacular views from a pair of cliffs. One of these allows for a clear view of Paint Creek, from a close enough vantage point that the sound of the water can still be heard.
Very well marked, some rolling hills so you can get an easy workout. Not many people, dogs okay. The middle section of the trail is along a cliff line that's really gorgeous.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
