Confirmed from South Point Lookout's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about South Point Lookout
“Gorgeous Place, difficult to get to to an extent but pleasant anyway”
“The park rangers are really working to keep the park nice and well marked.”
Beautiful day. Trail was dry and easy to follow. If you walk up the service road there are really nice restrooms at the top of the hill and a little picnic area. We grabbed the trail from that point and kept going.
Fall was a great time of year to visit. For those looking for a bit shorter hike than the 2 mile Red loop, take a left at the first trail fork and it is a 1.4 mile round trip to the lookout and back.
This trail is easy to moderate in difficulty. There are switchbacks that help with the steeper parts. The views are some of the best unobstructed views in Chillicothe.
Great place for a hike. Amazing views and interesting sights along the way.
