Confirmed from Lory State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park area known for its rugged terrain, with activities like backcountry camping & rock-climbing.
What runners say about Lory State Park
“Trails were very well maintained as were the restrooms at the parking lots.”
“The park is close enough to FC that guests were able to stay in town and it’s far out enough for beautiful views and photo ops.”
Lory State Park is a great because it has many options for outdoor activities from hiking, to mountain biking, and water activities. The hike to Arthur’s Rock is pretty easy if you’re from here. For a visitor, I’d say it’s moderate. The round trip is about 3.8 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
Great moderate hike with spectacular views. Great place to see wildlife and not too many people. The trail is well maintained and well marked. The parking is plentiful. There is a restroom at the trail head. The ascent is moderate but the excellent maintenance of the trail makes it easier.
We visited the accessible Homestead trail at Lory state park and it was lovely! There are a couple of accessible parking spots with access lanes right in front, and an accessible outhouse near the parking lot. The trail is wide enough for a wheelchair and is packed gravel/pea sized pebbles.
Absolutely amazing, gorgeous, scenic, beautiful... stunning! Wonderful park near Horsetooth Reservoir. Tons of trails for hiking, horses, and biking. Plenty of parking, picnic tables, views, and restrooms.
