A very beautiful and spacious park in a town nestled in the Texas hill country. It isn't a place I would be likely to go, but for the eclipse. We were taken with the beauty and serenity of the park and the river, despite it containing a few thousand eclipse-chasers.
The park is open and clean and there's plenty of shaded parking spots under the overpass. A plus is the small water park area where the kids are able to get wet, while the adults sit nearby on the shaded benches. The bathrooms are really nice, and air conditioned!
I'm not a fan of cement paths - I much prefer rugged hiking, but this park was a really nice change of pace! Clean, quiet, pretty views, los of deer.
What a GREAT local treasure. Hike, bike, or walk the paved trails and observe the wildlife along the path. Kids will love the Splash Pad. Shaded picnic area with picnic tables and several places for children to play on playground equipment. There is no entrance fee.
