Confirmed from Lowell Parkway Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lowell Parkway Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (130 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“This is a Loongg, beautiful trail that anyone can walk, jog, push a stroller on, walk a pet on, push a ride a wheel-capable wheelchair on!”

Took me longer to find out about these beautiful trails than I care to admit. From gravel, to dirt, to pavement if you are someone looking to find trails in the Sterling, Rock Falls, Dixon, etc area, this is a great spot to check out! Running, cycling, walking, there is alot of beautiful scenery😊

Fairly nice bike trail that's wide open and shaded. Perfect for bike rides, runs, outdoor time with your kids. A dirt track runs parallel to the main pavement Trail for a little more woodsy experience. There is a public water fountain about 1/2 Mile the parking lot.

★★★★☆ — Jacklyn , Sep 2021

Great old train track now blacktop path. Also, single track mountain bike path runs parallel then dirt road through the woods and by river.

★★★★★ — Climberdz , Aug 2017

Amazing slice of nature right out side of town. My only complaint would have to be that the old railroad grade path could use a new surface. Other than that everything's perfectly maintained!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
