Confirmed from Lower Henry Schuette Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Lower Henry Schuette Park
“The trails go up and down, and there are beautiful views among the river and in the woods.”
A wildish area that runs along the Manitowoc River and an old clay mining quarry. A lot of trees have been removed due to the Emerald Ash Borer. There is a nice outdoor set of exercise machines. Nice hiking trails through wet areas, along the river, through woods and old fields.
While there are many easy-level walking paths, my attention was drawn to the large amount of off-track paths. These are single file paths going over hills, down steep slopes, and even through areas of water. I loved them! They were challenging and fun and sometimes a little scary...and they are completely optional.
Beautiful smelling wild flowers along the path near the entrance with plenty of wildlife. Plenty of spots to go fishing along the river trimmed up for close access. Nice long walking trails. Outdoor workout station near the parking lot and a pavilion with grilling station. A porta-potty near the parking lot.
We love coming here to hike. The trails go up and down, and there are beautiful views among the river and in the woods. There is a trail that can take you from the big playground down to this lower area. There is also a big outdoor fitness zone.
