Confirmed from Luddam’s Ford Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dog-friendly park with kid-friendly trails and a dam plus fishing.
What runners say about Luddam’s Ford Park
“The picnic area was clean and had little grills for public use.”
“This beautiful and historic site features a dam at the beginning and, if you follow the 4-mile Indian Head River Loop Trail, you will arrive on the opposite side of the same dam.”
“Trails are clearly marked and easy to follow.”
“Very peaceful, quiet, not very crowded.”
Love that you have the option to walk by the river or head deeper into the woods. The grounds looked nice. Some parts of the trail we were a little unsure of the correct way (red trail) . I think some paths just need a clean up but overall great spot!
Great for any out door activity, hiking, picnic's, fishing, or walking the hound
Lovely park. Was looking for one near the Hanover Mall since we were running an errand there and had our dogs with us. They LOVED it. Wonderful trail. We want to go back and explore the opposite side. The pond is gorgeous. There are also picnic tables! Very peaceful, quiet, not very crowded. Going again for sure.
Great trail, can get muddy at times. Has picnic tables, grassy area and is wonderfully shady during the summer. No restrooms

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
