Confirmed from Lytle Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Another path more difficult to the left Good surface easy trail for kids and seniors, Great history with a yet to be discovered stagecoach road from the 1800's running through it.”

Little used trail. Park at the Canal below Day Road Bridge, Raised board walk through a swamp, with frogs, spring peepers and birds. About a two mile loop on the marked trail through the woods.

This little hidden trail is so cute, it is a must see. There are some trails inside the woods. It is perfect for a short day walk or to take out your furry friends with you.

Cute nature walk. It is a very easy trail great for kids. We went in April and there were many wet spots so expect to get muddy. We did about two miles.

What a great Park to come with the family. I would recommend you bring bug spray so you don't get any ticks but other than that it's a great walk it's a great nature experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a cool place to check out.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🪵 Boardwalk 3 mentions

“While muddy in spots, most of the trail is easily walkable, on mossy ground, gravel, boardwalk.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
