We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Mahany Nature Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Mahany Nature Preserve
This was a beautiful nature trail and easy to access. Very fun to bike on, but be warned: there are a few bumps on the road.
This is not a nature preserve. It's a lot of trails. There are many ways to enter and exit the trail. When it rains, it'll be very muddy. You will see a few people walking their dogs and people running/biking. There isn't quite a lot of shade, which isn't awesome on a hot day.
Nice place to walk the dog and great for trail running. Mostly grasslands and valley/blue oak woodlands. Waterproof shoes are nice in the wet season.
