Confirmed from Makamah Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Not too many people either and those that you do meet are respectful of the quiet and calm of why they are there.”

If going by GPS, the parking area may be poorly marked. Google Maps just took me to a random spot in the road with nothing around. Instead, look for where Makamah Road dead ends into Fort Salonga Road. At the northwest corner is a small gravel lot and the start of the trail.

Started with the yellow trail to reach to somewhat on the grey trail. Would request to put some benches for anyone to rest . The trail is extremely steep with rain making it more slippery. Be careful with your steps and be mindful of the nature. Good place for bird watching.

Nice wooded trails, a little hilly. One can hike directly to Fuchs Pond or Cranberry Preserve. Ingraham Preserve is just across the street. A great place to experience nature. I've spotted deer pretty frequently.

★★★★★ — John , May 2019

Great hike that can be done in an hour/ hour and a half. Not too many people either and those that you do meet are respectful of the quiet and calm of why they are there. Dog friendly too!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
