Confirmed from Manzano/Four Hills Open Space's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Manzano/Four Hills Open Space

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (147 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“We enjoyed a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains as the storm rolled in.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Preserve the peaceful nature and solitude this open space can provide.”

Seems like a good place to bring your bike, jogg or walk up in elevation for views and to get your heart pumping. I chose the steeper narrow trail going up along the right. Soon we were pretty high up. There's a lot of round boulders along the O.

★★★★★ — Mr , Mar 2024

Manzano/Four Hills Open Space is uniquely placed between the Manzanita's and a southern boulder field of the Sandia Mountains. Summers can be extremely hot so it's best to hike early in the morning or later in the day.

Absolutely beautiful. The water is such an experience itself. The trails are amazing. There are many trails and paths 5o explore. There also a little beach closer to the water if you can take the right trails. 100% recommend. Best thing about it is, its free!

★★★★★ — Serenity , Oct 2021

Very clean trail. There were many scenic views along the trail. Mutt mitts (doggie poo bags) are available and they are better than the poo bags that you buy in the store. There are a few benches overlooking truly amazing landscapes. Bring some water 💧 and maybe some lunch or snacks.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
