Confirmed from Mariposa Basin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Everything was really clean, and there’s a nice mix of stuff to do—big playground for kids, a baseball field, and even a pond to just hang by.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Mariposa basin park is always very beautiful to go for a walk around the park especially during sunrise or sunset!”

Mariposa is well taken care of and has something for everyone. Biking, walking, jogging, and running paved trails. Large open grass for games. Basketball courts, baseball fields and a nice playground.

This park sits quietly in the suburbs of Northwest Albuquerque; just a few miles away from Petroglyph National Monument. It's popular amongst locals and park-goers alike for a number of reasons.

Mariposa basin park is always very beautiful to go for a walk around the park especially during sunrise or sunset! My dog loves it too, it's also nice too for the little kids to take bread to feed the ducks as well! My favorite part is the big butterfly infront of the park right by the sign!

RECOMMEND: Was here running in the NM Farolito 5k in the evening. Thoroughly enjoyed this clean park and will absolutely go back.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
