Nice little place next to the rich people. Quite, nice place to walk dog, bike ride, or ride horse. Lots of nature around and history signs.
Quiet preserve, with ponds, marshes, and riparian woodland. Terrific bird & nature watching opportunities. The preserve is best accessed by walking the High Line Canal (parking @ E. Orchard Rd) or Lee Gulch Trails (parking at Castlewood Park).
This preserve is very much intertwined with the local bicycling trail. That’s good in that it is a part of everything, bad in that I wish it were bigger. I enjoyed the grassy trails that we were fortunate enough to not have to share with cyclists at that moment.
The South Suburban park and rec department has done a lot to develop this open space Park in the last couple of years. There are now numerous trails winding around the ponds in the area and through the fields.
