Confirmed from Markley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Clean park with a playground and a big field, plus basketball courts.
What runners say about Markley Park
“No restrooms and if there are clean water fountains, they're not by the basketball court.”
“So many unique climbing opportunities, the grass is beautiful, the whole thing is clean.”
“The trees offer great shade for picnics and spectators for those who want to play in the open field.”
“Clean and quiet, in a nice neighborhood next to a huge field.”
“Other than that the park is really fun for children of all ages.”
For what it is it's decent. The playground is basic and small. And there's no bathrooms. Just like two drinking fountains. A basketball court. The parking is limited to what's available around the edges. It's in a neighborhood so across the street of all sides is a home. But the tree are huge and really shady.
Fantastic location and features! If you want a scenic track to walk, the walkway in the perimeter is great for that. If you want to play a game of ultimate Frisbee or futbol, the field is setup for your success. If you have children looking to climb and play, there is equipment for them.
Beautiful park. A big open field to do all kinds of things. Or you can choose to just relax on one of the many benches surrounding the perimeter. You can walk the perimeter of the park and get in some good exercise. Lots of beautiful trees to look at.
Very nice. Big field for kids to run out fly a kite. Basketball court for older kids and adults. Nice play area. Nice covered picnic area. Nice neighborhood. Must watch small children on Berkeley st and Monte Vista sides because cars like to speed and roads can be busy. Dog friendly with poop bag dispensers.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
