Confirmed from Salem Hills Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring trails for mountain biking, as well as a playground and tennis courts.
What runners say about Salem Hills Park
“Beautiful, natural scenes around every corner!”
“Easy trail for beginners or a relaxing single track ride.”
Beautiful, natural scenes around every corner! Great for mountain biking, hiking, pickleball, a picnic, hammocking, slack lining, and there's even a community garden.
My spouse and I recently stopped at the park to enjoy some takeout. Although we were dressed for the rain that day, we were surprised to find that there weren’t really any paved trails. The trails we did see were VERY muddy and slick.
Great trail all times of year. Lots of wildlife and different terrains. Trail goes behind some houses and near roads sometimes, so a lite noise. also the trail is shared with bicyclist and many bike-only trails are poorly marked, so take the earbuds out and stay alert!
Great place to get in a couple laps on a mountain bike. The course is mostly flat and family-friendly. Many also walk dogs on or near the bike trails. Workers are removing invasive plants, and the north loop has not been cleared since the city cleared the area.
Trail conditions & character
“The trail well maintained, have some technical parts and the climbs are easier than going up summit hill.”
“Amazing place for a long solo walk, I would 100% come here for dog walks too!”
“Workers are removing invasive plants, and the north loop has not been cleared since the city cleared the area.”
“There is an old skills line that's short and steep, but requires decent jump skills, and has a very lucky jump at the end that requires speed, or you'll plant a pedal/chainring.”
“Not much in the way facilities, but there is a porta-potty.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
