This was a great unplanned stop for bird lovers. We got there around 10:15am to find plenty of parking on the gravel lot. There are open grassland paths and covered, shady paths. Since it was getting warm quickly, we decided to go shady.
Great trails, easy walking, fields and some shade. Boardwalks are fun. Turtles in streams. We saw a juvenile red-tailed hawk, see photo. He was sitting on a birdhouse, and let us approach very close. Entrance has voluntary contribution.
This walk was beautiful. I can't even imagine what it will be like in the spring
May 2025 : went for a walk over the weekend and got bombarded by mosquitoes in the parking lot, and had found 5-10 Lone Star Ticks on us before reaching the end of the trail, the ticks with the white spot.
