Confirmed from Matagorda County Birding's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Heaven on earth :-) ! Had an awesome transforming experience walking through 6 of the Gardens: Hummingbird, Palm & Bamboo, Herb, Rose, Butterfly & Cactus. The Palm & Bamboo Garden was my most favorite. Felt like I had been translated to Hawaii. So serene and beautiful.

Nice natural park. Went on a weekday, at the end of summer, so only late summer flowers were blooming. Would like to come back in spring. Had the park to ourselves, except for one nice lady working in one of the flower gardens. Peaceful and quiet.

My family has rented the building at the birding center for 2 parties (a birthday party and a baby shower) and both times were wonderful! It's a great price, the staff is very easy to work with, and all the tables and chairs we needed are already in the building.

Beautiful hike! Nice and peaceful! Was told by a gentleman strolling by that there are alligators in the pond but they aren’t big ones or they would be removed for safety! Good to know!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
