Confirmed from Mavis Stouffer Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic nature spot on the river with a picnic pavilion, walking trails, sports fields & a stadium.
What runners say about Mavis Stouffer Park
“Beautiful place clean, peaceful, great for any occasion out with a family.”
“Beautiful place clean, peaceful, great for any occasion out with a family.”
Beautiful and peaceful park. Lots of green grass and trees. Enjoyed the birds singing and the squirrels running around. There is even a butterfly garden with beautiful bright flowers.
Stouffer Park has a nice play area for the kids. There are large grass areas to hang out or picnic. It has a beautiful river that’s surrounded with a small forest of trees. It has a large gazebo and a volleyball net in the lower grass area. The running river is breath taking to see. There are also bathrooms.
Best park in the greater Modesto area. Plenty of grass, lots of benches, sand volleyball pits, baseball diamonds, soccer, and kids playground equipment, and trails leading down to the river.
One of my favorite parks. It is very dog friendly. There are picnic areas, a hall you can rent out, 2 playgrounds, a volleyball net in a huge sandpit, horseshoe pits and hiking trails along the river.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
