Confirmed from Melissa Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Melissa Lake Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (38 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It is clean, well-maintained, and provides a relaxing environment for both kids and adults”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful park, kids love it and cant get enough of splash pad and the play area, has something for every age, lovely lake, and great trails.”

🌳 shaded & cool 8 mentions

“Not quite a five though since there is a huge lack of shade which makes this not super friendly in the TX sun.”

Great park overall, but please consider installing barriers or guards around the splash pad slides to prevent smaller children from accidentally walking through the slide exit areas. Today, my 2 year old son was knocked over by an older child coming down a slide.

Brought my kiddos to the new splash pad. I share the same sentiments as Elon's post a few weeks ago. The "slide" material that is flush with the ground seems to be a hazard, accident waiting to happen.

★★★★☆ — Catherine , Jun 2026

Torn between 4 and 5 stars. It does have a bathroom, which is a huge plus. And it’s a great spot for fishing or paved trail exercise. The lake loop itself is .75 miles, plus a north extension that’s another .2 miles long. Can easily be repeated for longer workouts.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌳 Shaded / tree cover 8 mentions
