Confirmed from Melissa Penfield Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with a children's playground, sports facilities, a dog exercise area & a skate park.
What runners say about Melissa Penfield Park
“Still a great place for everyone, just needs a little cleaning and people to take responsibility to clean their own messes up.”
Although their playground is larger than most in the area it seems as though the crowd that attends don’t know how to respect other. Between adults just bringing large barking dogs with no kids of their own to children running around swinging sticks.
Cute park. Ton of ant hills so please be careful with your little ones. No restrooms Dear parents, don't take your kids to the park if they're sick, especially if you aren't parenting your child and educating them to not cough all up in everyone's air. Not every child is a healthy child.
Trail conditions & character
“No restrooms Dear parents, don't take your kids to the park if they're sick, especially if you aren't parenting your child and educating them to not cough all up in everyone's air.”
“Everyone was so pleasant, no issues with dogs, especially since my two dauchsunds don't get to attend many social events.”
“the only problem I had is that I wish they would touch up and reopen the bathrooms and water fountain.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
