Confirmed from Meramec Greenway Trailhead: Rock Hollow Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Meramec Greenway Trailhead: Rock Hollow Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (162 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 13 mentions

“Beautiful trail drop down into the valley and follows the creek past a small waterfall and all the way to river where it joins up with several other trials.”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“Most bridges, most fallen trees across water to play on, nicest scenic views, probably most shaded in summer, most resting benches in a 2 mile stretch.”

I'm going to give this trail several awards. Most bridges, most fallen trees across water to play on, nicest scenic views, probably most shaded in summer, most resting benches in a 2 mile stretch. Most of this trail is paved but you can easily branch off on Zombie trail for even longer hike or ride.

★★★★☆ — Crazy , May 2022

Beautiful trail drop down into the valley and follows the creek past a small waterfall and all the way to river where it joins up with several other trials. Spent 4 hours hiking 10 miles on Rock Hollow plus a detour up Bluff View trail for a nice view. Could spend all day down here on all these trails.

★★★★★ — Todd , May 2020

Wide, flat trail is mostly paved and offers a lot of shade!! Great for hiking and biking. You can also connect to other trails - Al Foster, Bluff View Trail and Zombie East/West. You may see deer or other wildlife. If it has rained recently, look for small waterfalls.

★★★★★ — Marie , May 2022

The views from the paved trail are beautiful, including sights of the Meramec River. Watch out when arriving at the Zombie Trail, it can get a little spooky for some visitors!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
