Confirmed from Merrill Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring nature trails, playgrounds, ball fields and picnic spots.
What runners say about Merrill Park
“Fields are really clean and well kept.”
“Finally, the park has a nature walking trail that goes behind the baseball fields and is next to a beautiful little creek.”
“We went early in the morning to beat the heat but this little spot is nestled amongst tall trees that provide lots of shade.”
Really pretty park with a nice woodsy trail and and the Little Wekivia River running back behind it all. Lots of space for kids to run around and a nice playground area. Very clean and spacious. It had just rained when I went to go check it out. We were pretty much the only people in the whole park.
Nice facilities, thought it was just a kids playground, but it’s a fast pitch softball academy as well. Fields are really clean and well kept. Parking seems to be a walk so get there early if you’re watching someone play!
Great park for kids to play ball. Lady in charge was awesome. Walking around, talking to visitors. Great space for families.
Scenic park with a trail that offers views of the Little Wekiva River.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
