Confirmed from Middle Oak Creek Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Great hiking spot where you can hike next to a creek, climb a hill, or just stick to easy hikes through the desert sand.”

Very nice hike! Recommend using long pants to avoid scratches from cacti and bushes. Also recommend using a hiking app if you wanna stay on the trail cause it’s easy to get off trail.

My gf and I walked this trail and enjoyed the views of the mountain slopes nearby. It's a straight trail back towards the mountains, but lots of rocks, bushes, and cacti along the way. Best to wear longer pants, or be careful if you have shorts on. A nice easier hike.

More of a walk than a hike, but still recommend. Out and back trail that is 1.5 miles each way. Flat along the entire route, with lots of awesome plant life to see. Not part of the scenic route, so this is free to explore. Arrived on a Monday around 245 and there were around 5 parking spots left (maybe a 10 car lot).

★★★★★ — Amber , Nov 2023

Great trail with a decent terrain for even a beginner. The rocks get bigger as you approach the mountain, but can still be walked over with ease. Lots of people visit the trail so parking may get full. There are other nearby spots to visit / hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 12 mentions

“Decent enough hike with sweeping view of the majestic, colorful mountains; lots of pretty Joshua Trees.”

“No worries tho, easy to orient yourself using mountains and you pretty much see the parking from anywhere on the trail so hard to get lost.”
