Confirmed from Middletown Valley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Middletown Valley Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (19 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Nice walking trail and wildlife preserve. Dog bags at the entry point, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Trails are not steep, and there's plenty of them. There is plenty of off-street parking, although it can be a little dark in the late evening. Some Gravel pathways so can be navigated in winter.

Great little park to dart around on a cross country trail bike! Fun little off the main path runs behind bjs and shaws supermarket.

★★★★★ — Jason , Apr 2021

A cute little spot to take a walk or walk your dogs. There are trail markers with information on local birds.

★★★★★ — Victoria , Oct 2022

Located in the heart of Middletown astride Bailey Brook before it enters Easton Pond. Had there been a siege of Newport in 1778, British lines would have extended along the western Ridge to 2 mile corner with redoubts above Easton pond at green end.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
